The 2010 Art Market at The Washington Examiner's ARTS ON FOOT
 

We are pleased to announce the 2010 four-day, Art Market at The Washington Examiner's ARTS ON FOOT festival sponsored by Wines of Argentina. Marking its 18th anniversary, The Washington Examiner's ARTS ON FOOT is Washington, DC’s, premier outdoor arts festival.  Spanning four city blocks, the event kicks off the Fall arts season and showcases the best that Downtown DC has to offer. Held in the vibrant Penn Quarter neighborhood and with the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery   as its backdrop, the festival features:

 ·       a four-day juried fine arts market
·       food sampling courts with 30 high-end restaurants
·       a wine area for sampling and seminars
·       three entertainment stages
·       a cultural corridor with galleries, theaters, museums and arts organizations
 
In 2009 , more than 30,000 arts patrons attended The Washington Examiner's ARTS ON FOOT.  The audience is predominantly professional, upscale and well-educated; they lead active lives and seek out the cultural experiences Washington has to offer.
 
The application period has closed.  Announcements for acceptance begins July 26.

Announcing the WellnessWORKS Farmers Market at OPM
 

Diverse Markets Management (DMM) in partnership with Guest Services Inc./Lancaster Foods and the US Government  will launch the WellnessWORKS Farmers Market on the plaza of the OPM building at 1900 E Street in Foggy Bottom.  The Market is part of the WellnessWORKS initiative, a program to educate and stimulate federal government employees about health and wellness issues, based on Michelle Obama’s directive.  It is being initiated at the DC campus of the OPM, GSA and DOI buildings as a pilot program that will then expand nationwide to all government agencies and buildings. The market is intended to showcase and provide healthy foods and nutritional items for people.  Additionally, the intention is to highlight sustainability by featuring only locally grown or produced products. 
 
The market will take place on OPM’s E Street courtyard and will operate every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm and will run until Oct 27 this year.  The market is free to participate.  Space is extremely limited.

Announcing the 2010 Downtown Holiday Market!
 

We are pleased to announce the sixth annual Downtown Holiday Market in 2010. This event, produced in partnership with the Downtown Business Improvement District, boasts one of the most spectacular outdoor shopping environments in the region.

The Downtown Holiday Market will operate for 21 days before Christmas. It will open Friday, December 3rd, and will run continuously through Thursday, December 23rd. Hours will be from 12pm-8pm each day.

Here it is again: the last minute.

I promised myself I'd have all of my shopping done before I went on vacation last week, but no chance. Yesterday, with days ticking away, I realized that I still had a ton of presents to buy. Last night, I stopped by the Downtown Holiday Market in front of the Reynolds Center where I found presents for everyone on my list well before my usual finishing date of Dec. 24.
