Vernon Square, on the grounds of the Carnegie Library building, which houses the Historical Society of Washington, DC, LIBERTY MARKET will feature fresh foods every Tuesday from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. The market will also feature local producer items such as honey, preserved fruits, spices, prepared foods and beverages, and live music. EVENT HOURS: Advertised hours for the market will be Every Tuesday 2:30-6:30 pm. Location Near 7th and K Streets NW at Mt. Vernon Square, on the grounds of the Carnegie Library building, which houses the Historical Society of Washington, DC. Nearby Metro: Gallery Place/ Chinatown at 7th and H Streets.
Participants The market will accept fresh produce, perserved and dried goods, prepared foods and beverages, plants and flowers, breads, diary and meats. Hot food and unique snacks made locally are also encouraged. Other appropriate items may also be added.
Loading / Parking A loading zone at the K Street curb is planned. Currently the meters are active but space is generally availalble. Vendors may park at the meters at their expense. Surface parking lots are available less than 1 block away. Discounted rates are being negotiated.
Fees The introducury rate of $15 per stand is in place while the market gets underway.
Spaces / Display All participants are expected to display their products in a professional and inviting way. Individual signage is encouraged. Tables should be covered. Vendors supply their own tents, umbrellas, chairs and tables, and other display items. Tents may be staked into the ground or should be weighted. Currently, no electricity is available on site.
Amenities Public bathrooms are availble inside the building. Onsite managment is on hand to assist and porters are available to assist in loading/unloading for tips. Postcards will be provided to advertise the market, a website will promote market activities and extensive neighborhood and community promotions will occur. Live music will be provided on a regular basis. Convenient parking arrangements are under negotiation.
